The Helmets of the Battle of Normandy
46,00 €
Gathered together for the first time, this book presents a selection of the most beautiful helmets found in Norman collections. These private collections, not open to the public, contain superb pieces sometimes saved from destruction and generally found on the many battlefields of the region.
These collectors have authorized us to photograph their most beautiful helmets of all the belligerents and to place them in their historical context. This is how you can discover a chronological frieze illustrated with period documents and allowing you to relive the great hours of the battle of Normandy.
The state of the helmets presented is extremely varied since we discover helmets that came out of the ground but also from attics and the names inscribed inside allow us to retrace their personal stories.
For others, the damage caused by the bombardments and the shrapnel are sufficiently eloquent to show the violence of the fighting during these 2 months. More than 170 American, British, Canadian, Polish and German helmets are gathered in this 208 pages book, with illustrations and color photos.
