Complete US Army D ration from Normandy.

The D ration is one of the best known rations of the Second World War. Developed as an emergency ration, it was intended to replace a missed meal with an energy intake of 600 calories.

Development began in the mid-1930s and in 1937 this fortified chocolate bar was standardised as “U.S. Army Field Ration D” in conjunction with the Hersley Chocolate Corporation – Hersley Pennsylvania.
