Operation Overlord, D-DAY landing on Utah Beach, then Battle of Normandy in the North Cotentin area and liberation of the city of Cherbourg, summer 1944.

Heavy helmet: No. 207-C, produced in 1942, chinstrap with field repair, steel hooks.

Captain’s rank painted on front with 4th Infantry Division “Green Shamrock” insignia.

In its original condition with worn patina, found in the Valognes area of France, a very fine piece of history.
