Variable density glasses with its carrying case, two spare filters and instructions for use.

Manufactured by American Optical Company stock No.74-G-79-40, US 1944.

The variable density red lenses operate with the central knob, turning this knob counter-clockwise darkens the lenses, giving different degrees of density from clear to pink/red, and allows the wearer to track targets close to and across the face of the sun.

The glasses were also equipped with a red “fold-down” plastic visor used to reduce glare in strong sunlight.

This model of goggle was mainly intended for anti-aircraft gunners and bomber group.
