The 6th Commando belongs to the 1st Special Brigade under the command of Lord Lovat.

On D-Day, the 1st Special Brigade was tasked with disembarking behind the 8th Infantry Brigade, capturing the port of Ouistreham and connecting with the 6th Airborne Division.

Commando n ° 6 Commando landed on Queen Red Beach “La Brèche” at 8:40 a.m. on June 6, 1944.
